Leighton Machine & Tool is proud to announce the addition of the Mitsubishi MV2400-S Wire EDM to our advanced line of CNC equipment. This machine uses electrically charged wire to vaporize the material rather than cutting it by traditional methods. This allows for machining accuracies down to .0001/in and grinding like surface finishes.

Specific advantages of this new wire EDM include:

  • Greater accuracy with non-contact, zero back-lash linear shaft drive system in the X and Y axis along with linear glass scale feedback
  • Greater repeatability and accuracy with a water chilling unit that keeps the machine and workpiece at a set temperature to minimize thermal deformation
  • Submerged Machining to 12.2″ Deep
  • Machine Travels: X x Y x Z in (mm) 23.6 x 15.7 x 12.2 (600 x 400 x 310)
  • Maximum Workpiece Dimensions: W x D x H in (mm) 41.3 x 32.3 x 12.0 (1050 x 820 x 305)
  • Minimum Resolution 0.00002 / 2 µin ( 0.00005 / 50nm)
  • Up to date power supply and spark control to greatly reduce cycle times and consumable costs
  • Increased shop capabilities for current and future work

Leighton Machine & Tool is continually investing in the latest CNC machines to provide consistently accurate production of the most complex components.
